The article presents a review of the literature on clinical aspects assessing vitamin D deficiency in young children by concentration 25(OH)D (hydroxycalciferol) blood serum. purpose was to familiarize pediatric specialists with real state affairs significance diagnosing status, its relationship prevention deficient rickets, ways correcting and choosing dose calciferol. A daily 400 IU for is effective safe preventing rickets. Higher subsidized doses calciferol have not been shown be more effective. In addition, they can potentially lead toxic levels metabolites blood. When using lower (less than IU), an adequate prophylactic effect may achieved. Determination level circulating serum hydroxycalciferol, which characterizes status body, recommended routine examination as standard rickets children. Calciferol has multilateral effects, modulates only phosphorus-calcium metabolism, but also affects other systems functions particular, ontogenesis immune system. According foreign literature, all infants should receive treatment from age one month. This most reliably identified children, probably at risk.
